The Dead of Athens

The dead came off his ship.

When councilman Demos executes her father for a poisoning he invented, healer Ione is bitten by her risen father and must hide her slowly spreading bite while she hunts the wax tablets proving the dead came off Demos's own ship — before he burns the harbour district with twenty thousand people inside at the new moon.
